• And that’s a wrap on week one of Operation Accelerate!!! Today - WaTeR dAy!!! Everyone of all ages had so much fun! We cannot wait to see our campers again on Sunday evening and Monday morning! Rest up kids…even more fun is coming your way Monday!!

  • Day 4 of Operation Accelerate - North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores. Amazinggggg day! We touched stingrays, starfish, hermit crabs, sea urchins and sea anemone. We saw all kinds of fish, turtles, and snakes! It was a great day and so many memories were made!!

  • Every day should be a tie dye day! Day 3 of Operation Accelerate was definitely a fun filled, busy day! Jump rope relay, defying gravity with balloons, tug of war with and without milk crates(!!), a lunch time Luau(!!!!!!), tie dying shirts, and bowling during dorm time!

    So many memories are being made, and so much fun is happening. Our students are having the best time, and the staff is as well!

  • We did a thing today! For day two of Operation Accelerate, we braved the heat and went to Sylvan Heights Bird Park!!! The kids LOVED it, and it’s safe to say the staff did too! Tonight, the kids will learn how to set up a tent, cook supper over a fire and camp out!

  • Today was a PERFECT day to start our 2nd annual Operation Accelerate! Our students were able to sleep in a bit and started a fun filled day! They made pizza, participated in PE activities, played minute to win it games, and enjoyed some cerebral relaxation time. Tonight, they are enjoying pizza and a movie in the dorms! We are definitely looking forward to how much FUN we will have these next 2 weeks!

  • The Eastern North Carolina School for the Deaf in Wilson, NC is hiring for the position of Residential Life Trainer (RLT).

    We are currently hiring 2nd and 3rd shift positions. This is a ten month position that follows the traditional schedule of the public school system, including holidays. Job duties include working with and assisting Deaf and Hard of Hearing students within the ENCSD Boarding Program.

    Starting pay is upwards of $15.00 an hour.

    The position offers North Carolina State employee benefits.

  • The kids had a blast at this year's Prom. There was a live DJ, food, dancing and lots of fun!

  • The school had a Field Day for the students last week. Due to the weather it took place in the gym. The students still thoroughly enjoyed themselves!

  • Congratulations to the graduating Class of 2022!

  • Today high schoolers did a science experiment extracting DNA from a strawberry! Hands-on science and fun with fruit!

  • Today high school science teacher, Mikaela Brown, led high school students in following the scientific method and lab safety measures to find out their blood type. The students did a great job on a fun, end of year experiment!

  • Our Horticultural class harvested their first aquaponic zucchini, cucumber, and lettuce of the year! After harvesting, they learned how to prepare fried zucchini and had a delicious mid-afternoon snack. We are excited to see what else is harvested from our crops!

  • The Seniors planned their day to spend together. Hiking at William B. Umstead State Park, grilling out with hamburgers and hotdogs, laser tag at Galaxy Fun Park, go kart racing, and mini golf. They ended the day with shopping and dinner at the mall.

  • Jessica Norris, Cedrick White, and the 6th-8th graders completed their math activity for the day. They practiced their estimation and measuring skills, estimating the length or width of the item in feet. Then they measured the item to see how many inches it was and if they estimated correctly.

  • A yearbook dedication and memorial dedicated to the celebration of the life of Kara Baldwin Cooper and Teresa Crumbley will be held at Eastern North Carolina School for the Deaf, Massey Activity Center Auditorium.

    Join this happy event on May 25, 2022 at 9:00 am to spend time basking in the wonderful memories we have of them. There will be fellowship, stories, and grins, as well as snacks and drinks.

    We request that you bring your own bubble bottles for the cheerful spirit of the gathering.

  • Operation Accelerate, the summer camp program happening from June 13th through June 24th 2022 at The ENCSD, has positions open.

      The Hourly rate is $24. American Sign Language skills are preferred but not necessary.

  • The High School Automotive Classes had a field trip to Caterpillar in Clayton, NC on the 18th. Looks like they had fun!

  • Spirit Week culminated with the Pie a Teacher Raffle. Students got to show how much they love their teachers by smooshing a whipped cream pie into their faces!
