  • During speech and language sessions this week, our students made a Thanksgiving story mix while working on defining new vocabulary words, using context clues, and identifying parts of speech.  Students were having so much fun they didn’t even realize how much they were learning! We have so much to be thankful for here at ENCSD! 💬🦃

  • The elementary students made turkeys using Phys. Ed. equipment today. They must be ready for Thanksgiving break!🦃

  • Health Benefits of Artichokes

    Artichokes are green vegetables native to the Mediterranean region and are often a key feature in Mediterranean cuisine. They may seem intimidating to prepare but require simple steaming and offer many health benefits. They are particularly high in protein and fiber.

  • This morning we had our 🍂Fall Festival🍁. Students walked through the 👻Haunted Halls of ENCSD🕸 knocking on doors and trick-or-treating🍬🍭🍫, painted pumpkins🎃, got their faces painted, played many games, and went on a hay ride. 

  • The high school students had a bear-y🐻‍❄️good time visiting the NC Zoo in Asheboro! Activities included: howling with the wolves 🐺, buzzing around the honeybee 🐝exhibit, and attempting to teach the gorillas 🦍 ASL.

  • Middle school students started the year off on the "right foot." The 3D shoe project was a great way to build community among students in the classroom and peers within the school. The 3D paper shoe models were displayed in McAdams, celebrating each student’s uniqueness and enhancing a sense of belonging. They then explored still life art inspired by Maya Kopitseva, focusing on shape, proportion, contrast, and texture. They began by observing fruits to improve their realistic depiction skills and create balanced compositions.

  • 🏅Our students received academic awards this morning. Congratulate them on their outstanding achievements!🏅

  • What an honor to host the 2024 Girls Volleyball Mason Dixon Tournament! We already miss the lovely teams and staff from ASD, KSD, MSD, and TSD. But we still have so many sweet memories! 

  • The cafeteria staff threw a Pirate Party today complete with a pirate crew, food, and treasure! Great job cafeteria maties!

  • What an honor to host the 2024 Girls Volleyball Mason Dixon Tournament. The friendliness, the sportsmanship, the spirit, the players, coaches, athletic directors, and administration all from each deaf school that attended was a feeling that is almost unexplainable. To Alabama School for the Deaf, Kentucky School for the Deaf, Mississippi School for the Deaf, and Tennessee School for the Deaf - thank you for traveling to the ENCSD, we have memories that will last a lifetime! The tournament winners are: 4th place - Kentucky School for the Deaf 

  • We had a great tournament today! Thank you to all the wonderful people who volunteered their time to help, especially the referees who are also part of the deaf community!

  • The WNC Schools Helene Recovery Fund

    The WNC Schools Helene Recovery Fund is an important initiative aimed at supporting schools affected by Tropical Storm Helene in Western North Carolina. This fund will help address various challenges faced by students and staff, including loss of housing, supplies, and technology, as well as damage to school facilities caused by the storm's winds and water. Company and individual donations are welcome and appreciated.

  • The 2024 🏐Mason Dixon Girls Volleyball Tournament🏐 at Eastern North Carolina School for the Deaf is this weekend! Watch our Tournament Page for tournament news and live streaming.

  • Our Math 3 class used number lines, inequalities, inequality notations, and interval notations to arrange card clues in correct order. The sorted cards helped students to find number combinations that opened four combination locks for each locked box. Treasured treats were found inside to congratulate students for matching the correct number lines, inequalities, inequality notations, and interval notations.

    Our students are now ready for interpreting key features of functions using interval notation.

  • The Middle School students are making posters and videos about a selected Deaf Athlete in their ELA class. This is in partnership with the Deaf Awareness Committee. Come check out these posters along with others at our soccer ⚽️ game on October 15th at 4 pm.

  • Tomorrow's Coed Soccer game has been cancelled. We will post an announcement when it is rescheduled. ⚽️🥅
