As part of their back to school training this week, our teachers participated in an interactive Kagan training to learn more effective strategies to actively engage their students in the learning process.
We were very excited to have a Harlem Globetrotter visit us on Wednesday during Operation Accelerate! The students had an amazing time learning basketball skills and even the staff joined in. A huge THANK YOU to Rocky Mount native, and Harlem Globetrotter, Jolly Manning! 🏀

A fantastic night for our OA campers to go to a game of Wilson Tobbs baseball!
Day 1 of Operation Accelerate was a blast! Campers used their minds and materials to build tents, create art from nature, build bird houses, and played an exciting game of octopus tag.

Mikaela Brown's 10th and 11th grade physical science class used what they learned this semester to put on a science expo! From chemical reactions, magnetism, changes in states of matter, and more, the kids put on a great show filled with physics magic!
On Friday, April 26, ENCSD co-hosted a Deaf History Month Trivia Event with the NC DHHS Division of Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Raleigh, Wilson, and Wilmington Regional Centers. Students, parents, and community members enjoyed learning more about Deaf History by participating in trivia games and activities!

We recognized the senior track athletes at their last track meet! Thank you for all of the support this year with all athletics. We look forward to next year and even more sporting events here at the ENCSD!

Asparagus is a herbaceous, perennial vegetable. It is part of the Asparagus officinalis family and is native to most of Europe and North America. It is commonly harvested early in the spring, before the spears grow woody.
This spring semester (7) ENCSD High School students are so motivated to take the course, Digital Media I. In the beginning of the semester, students learned about raster (photo) graphics and vector (drawing) graphics. For a few weeks, students learned to understand the concepts and methods used to create digital animation. Each student in Ms. Kate’s classroom created an animated GIF project, "City Animation". Each student had different abilities, and how they thought of their city background. The GIF format file doesn’t come with sound.
ENCSD recently celebrated Read Across America Day, a nationwide day of celebrating the value, importance, and fun of reading! We kicked off the day with a book talk, a hilarious skit, and a reader's oath. Four special guest readers were invited to do an ASL read-aloud of a book or eBook: Bola Desalu, Associate Accessibility Relationship Manager of Relay NC, Nicole Williamson, Teacher of the Deaf, Johnston County Schools, Natasha Wood, High School History Teacher, and Frank Zhang, Educational Technology Specialist. Avocados are a fruit with many varieties. They can vary in shape, color, and size, and are consumed in a variety of ways. Often, they are mashed and made into guacamole.
