🤟 Deaf Awareness Week: Silent Day 🤟

Last week, ENCSD was honored to welcome Hope Turner as part of our Deaf Awareness Week celebration! 💚💛

Wednesday’s theme was Silent Day, giving our students and staff an opportunity to reflect on communication, accessibility, and the importance of ensuring that every voice can be heard—whether spoken or signed.

Hope Turner made history as the first Deaf legislative assistant in North Carolina’s history. She shared about herself with our staff and students and spoke about advocating for Deaf Rights.

Having Hope visit our school was an inspiring opportunity for our students to see a Deaf professional breaking barriers and making an impact in North Carolina. We are grateful to Hope for sharing her story, experiences, and encouragement with our ENCSD community!

💚💛 Deaf voices matter. Deaf leadership matters. Deaf representation matters. 💛💚
