NCED Symposium

At Eastern NC School for the Deaf, we believe innovation and responsibility go hand in hand.
At the NCED Symposium 2026, Mandy Armstrong represented ENCSD by presenting on the safe and compliant use of AI prompts in education, with a strong focus on FERPA and HIPAA protections.

No Classes Tuesday

Good morning, ENCSD families.

Due to the roadways still not being cleared and the cold temperatures reducing snow and ice melt, we will not be having classes tomorrow, Tuesday, February 3rd. Although this will not be a remote learning day, students are encouraged to review the materials they have been working on in class and to complete any outstanding work they may have.

Staff will be on a 3-hour delay tomorrow. If you have an issue with getting to work due to hazardous conditions, please contact your supervisor.

Please stay safe and warm!

Remote Learning

Good morning, ENCSD families.
Due to our 🌨️ snowfall 🌨️ yesterday we will have remote learning Monday, February 2nd. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions or concerns.

Staff, please see your email for further instructions.

Stay safe and warm!

Early Dismissal

Due to the unpredictability of the incoming storm, and out of an abundance of caution, ENCSD will dismiss students at  11:00 AM today.

For example, if your child is typically picked up from the bus stop at  3:00 PM, pickup today will be at  1:00 PM. Please plan accordingly.

Thank you for your flexibility and understanding as we work to ensure the safety of all students and staff.

Classes Resume

We are excited to have our students back on campus! Classes will resume tomorrow at the normal starting time. Residential students will be picked up today, Tuesday, January 27th, at their normal Sunday pick up time and location. If you have transportation questions, please reach out to Mr. Moody. Enjoy your day and see you soon!

Tuesday: Remote Learning

❄️ After assessing the significant ice on my driveway and surrounding roads, along with forecasts calling for temperatures to drop into the teensº this evening, we will have a remote learning day tomorrow, Tuesday, January 27

Please follow the previously shared expectations for remote learning.

Thank you for your flexibility during situations like this. Please stay safe, stay warm, and take good care of yourselves.

Remote Learning

❄️ Due to inclement weather, ENCSD will have a remote learning day on Monday, January 26.
We will continue to closely monitor road conditions for Tuesday and will share any additional updates tomorrow.
Please stay safe and warm.

Eye on the Weather

There are reports of a winter storm that could bring severe weather to our area. We are watching the weather closely and will post any announcements for school delay or closures necessary to keep our students and staff safe. We are encouraging students to bring home their devices to be ready for remote learning. Teachers are working with their students to prepare them for all possibilities. We will post updates as necessary.
Please stay safe and warm.
