Exciting News: Welcome Our New Principal, Mr. Elbert Kent!
We are thrilled to announce that Mr. Elbert Kent has joined the Eastern NC School for the Deaf family as our new Principal!
A proud native of Wilson County, Mr. Kent brings with him 25 years of experience in education and a deep commitment to student success. He is a graduate of Ralph L. Fike High School and earned his Bachelor of Social Work degree from Barton College. In addition to his academic achievements, Mr. Kent served honorably in the United States Air Force for eight years, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Mr. Kent began his educational career as a School Social Worker with Nash County Schools. His passion for supporting students led him to further his education, earning a Master of Science in Psychology from the University of Phoenix and completing his School Administration Licensure through Gardner-Webb University. He most recently served as Assistant Principal at Louisburg High School in Franklin County.
As a lifelong learner, Mr. Kent firmly believes that all students can learn. He is dedicated to ensuring that every student receives the best instructional support to help them thrive. Outside of school, Mr. Kent enjoys riding his motorcycle, building decks, traveling in his RV, and spending quality time with his loving and supportive family.
